Bachelor of Science in Education
Program Description
The Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSE) program is a combination of in-person and online coursework combined with immersive experiences designed for teacher candidates who have acquired an associates degree in elementary education. Candidates will become eligible for dual certification in elementary education and special education in Delaware. The Program Graduate Competencies listed below identify the major learning goals related to your specific program of study and identify the knowledge and skills you will have when you graduate to be successful in your chosen field. - Build an inclusive classroom community to nurture the developmental needs of diverse learners. - Apply instructional design, content knowledge, and culturally responsive pedagogy to equitably support all learners in achieving high standards. - Connect concepts using varied perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking and collaborative problem solving related to local and global issues. - Integrate meaningful assessment to measure, monitor, and support learner growth. - Use student data and evidence-based strategies to inform instructional practices. - Collaborate, as a professional, with colleagues, families, and communities as partners. - Be empowered to reflect on, question, and change practices that marginalize groups and do not support ethical practices in education.
