Advanced Massage Therapy Program
The objective of the Advanced Massage Therapy (AMT) program is to equip graduates with
knowledge and practical hands-on experience in the massage industry in keeping with the
school’s purpose and mission. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in spas,
resorts, medical offices, wellness centers, hospitals, mobile massage, on cruise ships, as well as
opportunities for self-employment. From an occupational perspective, the student trained in
this program will offer an employer a diversified and versatile skill set. The AMT graduate
acquires many skills and can branch off into various career and employment opportunities. The
beginning weeks of the program contain in-depth hands-on training in Swedish massage and
allows for clinical opportunities throughout the program to hone basic and advanced massage
skills. Students will have a minimum of 250 clinical experiences scheduled. These sessions will
reinforce the application of advanced assessment, client communication, technique selection,
and ethical standards in a real-world clinical setting. This hands-on experience is designed to
enhance student confidence, competence, and readiness for professional practice upon
graduation. Helping the student to be a highly trained therapist even before they enter the
workforce. In total the program contains five courses and a total of 22 weeks, and 650 contact
hours of instruction. Students should possess the skills and knowledge to test for the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). Upon successful completion of this program,
students will receive a diploma.
